SCHEDULE

This is a full time position, 40 hours per week. Monday through Friday 8am - 4pm is the general schedule, however there is a rotational Saturday/holiday schedule. This will be discussed further in the interview.

SUMMARY

General Description:  Responsible for coordinating clubhouse activities and the daily program to assure the program follows the "work-ordered day" concept. Provides direct service to members (recipients) within program guidelines.

Responsibilities and Duties:  Develops, coordinates and monitors clubhouse activities to maintain the "work-ordered day". Provides psycho-social rehabilitation (PSR) services including symptom identification and care, competency building (e.g., basic skills education, unit participation) and environmental supports (e.g., transportation). Coordinates social/recreational and on-site vocational services. Makes contact with members as appropriate or required. Responsible to engage members in all aspects of the clubhouse operation. Models appropriate member interaction and shares responsibility of units with staff, interns, volunteers and members. Recommends selection of and monitors interns. Facilitates identification of member strengths/needs and develops units and tasks accordingly. Diligently works to assure that members are fully engaged in services by using traditional and creative approaches. Problem solve with Clubhouse Director and other staff when obstacles present themselves. Ensures timely completion of required paperwork. Provides formal written comprehensive assessments. Monitors goals and objectives weekly and documents progress through case notes, monthly summaries, and annual reviews. Coordinates services with the member's CSM to ensure that clubhouse goals are consistent with other individual goals. Stays abreast of the PSR/clubhouse philosophy, Clubhouse International Standards, and Medicaid PSR guidelines. Networks, educates, advocates for and identifies transitional employment opportunities for the development of clubhouse services. Provides for coverage on all placements during member absences in the transitional employment program. Assists with the development of appropriate linkages with other community agencies, clinical services, government department, and other relevant programs. Opens and closes facility and promotes a safe and healthful clubhouse environment. Works flexible hours as needed. Provides outreach and/or 24 hour emergency crisis intervention. Participates in agency staff meetings. Performs other duties as assigned. 

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

General Education: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or similar mental health specialty is required. 

Other Preparation:  Three-week clubhouse training course preferred. Training in confrontation avoidance, physical management, crisis intervention, medications, and mental illness.

Job-Related Experience: Sufficient experience to perform the position at a satisfactory level required.

Licenses/Certification:  Valid driver's license while operating vehicle on agency business. Possession of an automobile or dependable access to reliable transportation for frequent travel.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Knowledge:  Knowledge of the characteristics and social aspects of mental and emotional disturbances; proficient in principles and techniques of psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, mental health therapies, behavioral modification techniques, and community organization/intervention.  Knowledge of legal systems; community agencies; and health, mental health, and social welfare programs.  Knowledge of pertinent regulations, medications, and daily living skills.  Knowledge of agencies specializing in employment training and what constitutes effective training.

Skills:  Dictaphone, telephone.  Skill in using copy machine, calculator, paper shredder, fax machine and computer word processing preferred.

Abilities:  Ability to demonstrate leadership; ability to establish and maintain rapport with each recipient; determine therapeutic needs; develop treatment/intervention plans; monitor recipient's behavior to assess plan effectiveness; and modify plans as recipient's needs dictate.  Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; adapt communication according to recipient's functioning level; and establish positive and effective relationships with colleagues and members of other community agencies/programs.  Ability to listen well; adapt quickly to change; be non-judgmental, innovative, patient, and empathetic.  Ability to work independently; meet deadlines; demonstrate assertiveness and initiative; and show coordination, time management, organization, prioritization, mediation, client advocacy, and record-keeping skills.  Ability to work as a team member; and work well in stressful and crisis situations.

Physical Demands:  Work involves standing, stooping, bending, walking, lifting and driving.  Frequent travel is required.

Work Environment:  Work is performed mostly in a clubhouse site, occasionally in the Agency office building and in other community settings and may involve dealing with people under very trying or difficult circumstances.
