SCHEDULE
This is a full time position, 40 hours per week. Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm is the typical schedule, however, on a rotating basis staff cover one evening a week and one Saturday per month as well as the 6 major holidays. This will be discussed further in an interview.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Hourly Range: $16.05 - $21.88 depending on experience
JOB SUMMARY
General Description: The Clubhouse Generalist share employment, housing, evening/weekend, holiday and unit responsibilities with members. Central to this role is the engagement of members in all aspects of unit and clubhouse operations. Staff assist members in developing leadership, interpersonal/relationship, vocational, educational, housing, wellness, social, community integration and community membership goals. The Clubhouse Generalist will utilize a strengths-based approach and promote an equal culture with members thereby allowing members to experience themselves as valued colleagues in the Clubhouse community.
Responsibilities and Duties: The Clubhouse Generalist completes unit work alongside members, not for members. Responsible for planning and coordinating unit work tasks. Provide training and coverage on transitional employment job positions. Provide coverage on rotating basis for evening and weekend social activities. Staff are dynamic and skilled at developing relationships with members. Clubhouse Generalist will proactively address needs before situations become crises. Support member through crisis situations. Develop rapport with members and identify individual's needs, strengths and talents. Help individuals develop skills, access resources and learn to manage illness in order to be successful in the living, working, learning and social environments of their choice. Assure that members have a completed goal sheet based on their individual recovery focus and desired competency areas. Complete all progress notes and other required paperwork collaboratively with members in a way that promotes dignity, understanding and desired outcomes. Diligently work to assure that members are fully engaged in services by using traditional and creative approaches. Promote wellness and integrated health through modeling and offering opportunities to improve all aspects of member's health. Participate in Auspice agency committees as needed. Provides leadership with clubhouse members in relationship to the mission and goals of the Clubhouse. Provides job placement and job coverage on 2-3 Transitional Employment job positions and provide ongoing support to employers and members placed in Supported Employment or Transitional Employment opportunities. Participate in activities both within the Clubhouse and within the community to promote goodwill and Clubhouse awareness, including providing presentations to community organizations on the Clubhouse model. Assist with the development of appropriate linkages with other community agencies, clinical services, government departments and other relevant programs. Works cooperatively with the Clubhouse Director and members in establishment and completion of the work ordered day. Maintains enthusiasm, commitment and belief in the Clubhouse Model.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
General Education: High School Graduate or equivalent
Job-Related Experience: Sufficient experience to perform the position at a satisfactory level required. One year experience working with individuals who have a persistent or severe mental illness preferred.
License: Valid driver's license while operating a vehicle on agency business.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Knowledge: Basic knowledge of the characteristics and social aspects of mental illness, emotional disturbance and psychotropic medications is preferred. Knowledge of agency purpose and organizational structure. Basic knowledge of English, word usage and spelling. Knowledge of recreational activities. Knowledge of the International Clubhouse Standards and the psychosocial rehabilitation services outlined in the Michigan Medicaid Provider Manual. Knowledge of legal systems, community agencies, and health, mental health and social welfare programs.
Skills: Telephone skills. Skill in using copy machine, calculator, paper shredder, fax machine, and computer word processing.
Abilities: Ability to provide guidance, support and advocacy for clubhouse members. Ability to work as a team member in the overall unit and Clubhouse operation. Ability to provide vocational, social, wellness and housing support services to the Clubhouse members to identify and help achieve life outcomes identified as important to the individual. Ability to coordinate/manage Transitional Employment sites. Ability to implement clubhouse standards, philosophy and principles in accordance with the International Standards and the Medicaid Manual. Highly developed communication, interpersonal and organizational skills to identify and help achieve life outcomes identified as important to the individual.
Physical Demands: Work involves a significant amount of walking and standing to participate in physical activities. Some driving is necessary. Talking, stooping, bending, and lifting are required.
Work Environment: Work is varied in nature and requires accuracy, flexibility, sound judgment and attention to detail. Work is typically performed indoors on-site or in other community settings. May involve dealing with other people under very trying or difficult circumstances.
