SCHEDULE

This is a full time, hybrid position, 80 hours per bi-weekly pay period. Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm is the typical schedule, however there are other flexible options available which will be discussed in an interview.

Salary Range: $50,357 - $68,515 depending on experience

JOB SUMMARY

General Description:  Maintains the general ledger, provides financial information to management and other agency staff members by analyzing accounting transaction and budget data; prepares financial reports.

Responsibilities and Duties: Applies generally accepted accounting principles to financial transactions.  Maintains the Chart of Accounts, prepares and monitors agency and consumer budgets.  Reconciles and analyzes the general ledger.  Calculates and enters monthly expense and revenue accruals.  Reviews and approves cash disbursement check processing.  Conducts cash flow analysis. Posts cash receipts and transfers.  Prepares and creates various financial reports.  Reconciles agency bank accounts monthly.  Assists with financial reporting to external bodies including Michigan Department of Health & Human Services and Mid-State Health Network.  Provides technical support for account clerks in areas such as cash disbursements, cash receipts and payroll.  Provides financial documentation for the annual external audit.  Responsible for performing internal and contracted provider audits. Creates and enters journal entries.  Conducts cost analysis and allocations for rate setting.  Provides information and guidance on financial matters to aid management and other staff in decision-making.  Participates on agency teams and committees as assigned.  Responsible for fixed asset schedules and depreciation.  Contact for agency liability and vehicle insurance.  May represent the agency before the Finance Committee or Board.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS  General 

Education: Bachelor's degree required with a major in Accounting

Job-Related Experience: Sufficient experience to perform the position at a satisfactory level required. 2 years general accounting experience.

Licenses, etc.:  Valid driver's license necessary while operating vehicle on agency business.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Knowledge:  Generally accepted accounting practices and principles, cash, accrual, and governmental accounting.  Auditing practices and principles.  Accounting computer applications. Management of budgets, financial data analysis, payroll, cash disbursements, cash receipts, and 3rd party billing. 

Skills:  Attention to detail and accuracy, planning and organizing, problem identification and analysis, Operate a calculator, copy machine and personal computer.  Skilled in using spreadsheets and accounting software. 

Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively with supervision, Board staff, outside agencies and auditors.  Ability to coordinate work with other staff and work independently, provide leadership, organize projects and provide training.  Ability to balance general ledger and prepare financial statements as required. Ability to analyze financial information.   

Physical Demands:  Near acuity and accommodation necessary for checking and copying figures.

Work Environment:  Work is performed in a typical office setting.
